CAMPAIGNING FOR BETTER
For everyone
In the UK
In Wythenshawe
There are 97,635 people living in Wythenshawe, and 58,000 of them are receiving Universal Credit. At the moment, these payments are so low that people are going into debt just affording the bare essentials.
The Churches in Wythenshawe are calling on the government to bring Universal Credit payments into line with the current cost of living, so that everybody can afford the essentials.
It costs a single person around £120 every week to afford the essentials to live, and £200 for a couple. This means that the average person needs to spend £35 a week more than Universal Credit - just to stay alive.
